Are you even TRYING???

Get Up by Mary Mary

Layin' Low
PRESS'N pause
Sleeping long
Slow motion
Gonna do
Shoulda, coulda, woulda done
Excuses

What are you afraid of?
Don't you know what you're made of?
One of God's greatest creations
Take this invitation now

Get Up
'Cause you can't stop
Get Up
Got a lot to do
24 hours
almost gone
Get Up
Don't sit there
Get Up
If you wanna get there
Clocks don't stop and
Time won't wait

He said
She said
They said
What do you say?
It's your dreams
your choice
your time
your life
So don't you
don't you
miss it

What are you afraid of?
Don't you know what you're made of?
One of God's greatest creations
Take this invitation now

Get Up
'Cause you can't stop
Get Up
Got a lot to do
24 hours
almost gone
Get Up
Don't sit there
Get Up
If you wanna get there
Clocks don't stop and
Time won't wait

Welcome to the rest of your life
from now on, just try
to live more, want more, work a little harder
dance more, laugh more, be a little smarter
hug a little longer, love a little stronger
you've been down but now it's time to

Get Up
'Cause you can't stop
Get Up
Got a lot to do
24 hours
almost gone
Get Up
Don't sit there
Get Up
If you wanna get there
Clocks don't stop and
Time won't wait (2x)

One more time!

*Pretty self explanatory huh? :-)

More than a goof ball!

Today is a new day. A new opportunity to follow your dreams. Take advantage of this blessing. Take that leap. Whatever your dream is, you have to step towards it. The more steps you take the more the universe will conspire to assist you…

If you want to run a label, quit your job at the bank & intern at a label. If you want to be a doctor, apply to school today, etc. I wanted to act, so every week I go to acting school for 14 hours, study film & actors, read about projects, etc. Once I took steps, roles came.

A girl replied, how can I pay my bills if I quit my job to follow my dreams? – when following your dreams you will be temporarily inconvenienced. Tyler Perry was HOMELESS years before becoming a MILLIONAIRE. Only you can determine the amount of sacrifice your dreams are worth.

Before 106 I had a job making 30k but I wasnt happy. I quit. Moved to NY, worked small jobs to get by, & lived on @FredWhit FLOOR 8 MONTHS! I just meet so many people that want to reach their goals & then complain when it sounds hard! Go watch Pursuit of Happiness

Everybody has a different story. U may have kids, mortgage, bills, etc. But God is powerful. There is always a way to follow your dreams!

* I found this letter to be very inspiring. Terrance is someone who at first glance doesn't seem to have many layers, but after reading this I ( an initial fan) have gained even more respect. I know there are sacrifices I will have to make to fulfill my dreams. Sometimes, I do get discouraged just thinking about the struggle. But, I'd rather try and fail than to never try at all...

10 Simple Tips...

Here we are nearing the end of January, hopefully you're still kicking 2011 off to a healthy start. I came across this simple list that I thought would be a great read for those who are needing a little motivation right now. Enjoy...

1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
5. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, and prayer..
6. Play more games.
7. Read more books than you did in 2008.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day. And while you walk, smile.

I can. I will. I AM

My First short Film is FINALLY done! I am sooooo excited! Well actually this post is about a month late but hey I'm a busy woman! To make things even better, my professor chose my film to be in an upcoming film festival! Who knew! With all the issues I had the first day I am very proud that I turned things around...no matter what the situation. He even said his wife chose it as her favorite!
I can't post the film online until the film festival is over :-( but I will be sure to post it first thing! When life gives me lemons I don't make lemonade I make fruit punch! HA! I love you.

So you call yourself a film maker?

I began shooting my very first film yesterday. I prepared my script, shooting sequence, and story board. I arrived early to get actors ready and set-up. And as I went to get the camera for my first scene, I realized I forgot the TAPE! Wow!

I had buffer time because the actors were still preparing. I ran over to the production studio on campus to ask for a tape...tech not in. So I ran to my car... I just knew in my heart I had a mini DV tape in my car...no luck. At that point I could have just ran to the CVS, but I left my purse upstairs...

So I ran back upstairs to get my purse to a ranting AD (whom of course stopped talking when I got there), I ignored him and explained to them the issue. We are now 30 minutes into the filming schedule but we haven't film one thing. I am frazzled, sweating, and frustrated at myself.  I ran to CVS got the expensive little tapes, drove back to set, and began filming.

What is the lesson?

Preparation is everything. I "thought" I had everything set but I didn't. I wont beat up on myself too much as I know I will make mistakes...and that's Ok. It's what we do after the mistake that determines our character!

I am a novice film maker. Yes.I.AM. lol! All in all I am  proud of myself and my creative writing ability. I personally enjoy the writing and creative aspects of the process the most.

We shoot again Thursday. I have a crew of two and a possible. Two actors. Two lights. And tapes in my car, purse, and tote.
FADE OUT.
THE END

Proper Noun...

My name is BRITTANY...{sigh}...it is in the top 5 most popular names EVER! It is common. It is cute (young sounding). It is COMMON! If someone walks into a room and shouts "Brittany" many will most likely raise their heads in response (Don't believe me? Try it, lol) I was eventually nicknamed "Beey" (pronounced "Bee") which has stuck with me for years. Beey suits me better, there is mystery in it. And it's a great convo. starter explaining why everyone calls me Beey. I'm rambling...

My utter disdain for my proper name (that rhymes, ha!) prompted me to ask my mother WHY she chose my name; Here is her response:
" I think the name Brittany is beautiful and sweet. It sounds youthful and free spirited...just like you. It's only a proper noun!"
*Proper Noun: The Formal name of a unique entity, such as an individual, title, event, or place, which is often capitalized in English usage. But it does not describe the person!

We are all guilty of searching the meaning of our names as if it will boost or deflate our self-esteem (If it does you probably need more help than this blog can offer). Some of us whom have common names such as Brittany, Ashley, and Emily may have been unjustly targeted by those who really take the "meaning" of their name as a factual interpretation of who they are. But, we who are caught up on our first grade vocabulary know that a name is only a formal title NOT a means of character descriptions...those are called adjectives!

That is all for now! Until next time...um...What was your name again?
